Usman Institute of Technology is open to both boys and
girls of any religion, race, creed, colour or domicile
who are academically qualified for admission.
There are no reserved or quota seats. Students are
admitted only on merit. The merit, for the purpose of
admission is determined on the basis of scholastic
achievements in the SSC, HSC or equivalent examinations,
entrance test and interview.
Depending on the number of seats available, applicants
who are at the top of the index of cumulative
achievements will be offered admissions. If there are
early dropouts, the vacant seats will be offered to
those who are next on the merit list. No waiting list
will be announced. Allotment of disciplines will follow
strictly on merit of the students concerned. It is,
therefore, possible that some students, selected in the
general merit list may fail to get the discipline of
their choice. In such cases, they will be accommodated
in the alternate choice.
Eligibility for Bachelor of Engineering / Bachelor of
Science
i. Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) (Pre-Engg.) Part I
& II Examinations atleast in 1st division i.e. 60% in
Board of Intermediate Education in Pakistan. (For BS
atleast 2nd Division i.e. 45%).
ii. Cambridge High School Certificate Examinations with
Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry at Principle level,
or G.C.E. "A" Level with Mathematics, Physics and
Chemistry. (For BS, Chemistry is not necessary).
iii. American Grade 12 Diploma plus Achievement Test
results in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. (with a
score of at least 500 in each).
v. International Baccalaureate Certificate with
Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
v. Shahadah Al-Thanawia Al-Aammah (TAUJIHI), Higher
Secondary School Certificate with at least Grade 'JAYYED'
of Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait, Egypt or equivalent of any
other Arab country.
vi. Diploma of Associate Engineer from a recognized
Board of Technical Education in Pakistan in the relevant
discipline where candidate seeks admission with at least
60% marks.
vii. Any other academic qualification that is considered
equivalent to the above by the Admission Committee.
Zero Semester (For Intermediate Students)
A Zero Semester is offered for all those students who
seek admission in any engineering discipline and have
secured percentage between 50% and (less than) 60%. They
attend a zero semester and are required to secure at
least 60% marks in aggregate to confirm their permanent
admission.
Courses offered in zero semester are as follows:
Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry & Computer Science. A 12
week intensive course concentrates on reinforcing the
basic knowledge in the respective subjects and helps the
students to follow the academic courses with better
understanding.
Equivalence Criteria of Foreign Examinations
a) For the purpose of determining eligibility and merit
of a candidate having passed Cambridge/London/Oxford
General Certificate of Examination A-Level or have
passed two years Pre-University Examination at 11th
and 12th grades or 12th and 13th /OAC Grades (or similar
Examinations) only the subjects of Mathematics, Physics
& Chemistry shall be considered and the letter grades
obtained in these subjects will be equated in percentage
to H.S.C. (Pre-Engineering) as follows:

b) For an equivalent Examination recognized as such by
this University in which only marks (in numerical
figures) are given then equivalent percentage shall be
determined by subtracting 14% from the marks
obtained by a candidate in the subjects of Mathematics,
Physics and Chemistry.
c) For an equivalent Examination recognized as such by
this University in which both the letter grades and
marks are given then equivalent percentage shall be
determined on the basis of letter grades with equivalent
percentage as given in (a) above in the subject of
Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
Equivalence certificate from Secretary Inter-Board
Committee of Chairmen, Islamabad is required from
candidates who have completed their Higher Secondary
Education in a system other than that of Pakistani
Boards.
