Third Generation (3G) Mobile Systems are being deployed in many places in the world and work has started on the standardization of 4G principles and technologies,
where the emphasis will be on developing appropriate services and applications over heterogeneous network infrastructure including Bluetooth and WiFi.
The success of 3G and 4G mobile systems will depend largely on the ability of industry and academia to develop and provide appropriate applications to the users of
the new mobile and wireless world. This is what this programme is about. This innovative course is concerned with modeling and quantitative analysis techniques for the design,
development, tuning and upgrading of computer communications and software systems. It is aimed at graduates from science, mathematics, computing, engineering and related degree programmes.
Graduates of this programme will be particularly suited to the field of mobile and high-speed networks, but the techniques covered will be equally applicable to the traditional computing
areas including manufacturing and logistics.
An MS program consists of 30 credit hours after 16 years of engineering/sciences education. For the program, the students are required to complete a minimum of 6 courses of 18 credit hours (as major)
specified for the desired area of specialization. Remaining 4 courses of 12 credit hours can be undertaken from any area of specialization (as minor) under any MS program including its own area of
specialization in consultation with the supervisor. A student may opt for a thesis of 6 credit hours in lieu of 2 minor courses. Hence there are two options in all MS programs:
(i) MS by course work having 6 major and 4 minor courses. Total 10 courses of 30 credit hours.
(ii) MS by research work having 6 major, 2 minor courses and 1 thesis of 6 credit hours. Total 30 credit hours.
All the students with option (i) above, are additionally required to qualify a comprehensive examination as their degree requirement.
ELIGIBILITY:
Students having BS in Computer Science (04 years) and BE in Electronics / Electrical / Telecommunication / Industrial Electronics / Computer Systems are eligible for admission.
