The Industrial Liaison Office (ILO) works for establishing relationships between the Usman Institute of Technology (UIT)
and the industry. The ILO is the key mechanism within the UIT to develop linkages between the UIT and commercial or
industrial concerns. This two-way dialogue aims to inform industry of our activities and helps keeping our teaching and
research relevant through discussions on curriculum structure and student’s projects.
The Industrial Liaison Office at UIT has three main tasks:
disseminating information about the institute's research potential, developing partnerships among the institute, business
and industry, promoting “entrepreneur-ship” within the academic community. It is important to recognize that technology transfer occurs when institute / university faculty and representatives from business and industry work together for mutual gain.
The ILO organizes industrial visits for the students to provide them the
exposure and familiarity of the working environment in the corporate world and
industrial outlets such as SIEMENS Pakistan, Toyota Indus, PSO, Descon
Engineering & PARCO etc.
ILO advises students on career planning, preparation of CVs, job opportunities,
work placements, final year projects, internships and facilitates a strong, far
reaching and valuable link between business leaders, students and professors. It
endeavours to achieve this through:
- Bringing students and companies closer through joint projects.
- Linking course material and projects to the industry.
- Improving the quality of career guidance.
- Promoting of opportunities for research collaboration.
To provide professional education and to contribute to the development of the industry, UIT has launched several
programmes for strengthening of industry-academia interactions.
The objective of these programmes is to channel the feedback from the industry
into curriculum development, faculty development and applied research.
Guest Speakers and Seminars
Guest Speakers and Seminars provide an opportunity to the students and faculty
to benefit from the experience of prominent corporate executives and technology
professionals. Prominent speakers are invited from industry and education sector
regularly to highlight current issues, trends and concerns of the industry.
These opportunities provide an overall perspective to the students for
evaluating theoretical concepts and transforming them into realistic plans.
